Programs & Services
Project Learn is a programmatic strategy that incorporates learning into every aspect of club programming. The County of Santa Barbara recently invested $240,000 over three years to increase the effectiveness of our Project Learn strategy in boosting the GPA of participants.
Clubs match individual youth who are at risk with adult mentors and provide other needed supports (e.g., remedial reading or math tutoring) to get them back on track for on-time grade level progression. This service is especially critical for middle and high school students.
Sports, Fitness, & Recreation Programs
Programs like Triple Play help youth focus on living a healthy lifestyle and improving overall physical fitness. Over half of all participants adopted healthier diets and daily exercise routines as a result of their participation in this program. Programs like Triple Play decrease the health risks associated with childhood obesity, diabetes, and other serious health factors.
This comprehensive health and wellness program strives to improve the overall health of club members ages 6-18 by increasing their daily physcial activity, teaching them good nutrition, and helping them develop healthy relationships with peers and adults.
Education & Career Development Programs
Programs like Money Matters increase the financial literacy of our youth members. Other programs in this core program area focus on homework help, career development, college readiness, summer learning loss prevention, technology skills, STEAM activities, academic enrichment, and community engagement. These programs reinforce and enhance the skills and knowledge young people acquire at school. Ensuring our youth members' academic success is one of our priority outcome focus areas. Statistically, children who perform better in school have a greater chance of succeeding later in life as adult members of society.
